Questions to ask your potential new IT provider

Changing your IT Support provider can be daunting, especially if you’ve been working with the incumbent provider for many years. So, to make sure the switch is as smooth as possible, here are some key questions to consider.

Remote day-to-day IT support

  • Will your team endeavour to assist us with any IT related problems (including problems with third party applications)?
  • In the event of an emergency will an engineer start to look at the issue immediately in order to minimise downtime.
  • Do you provide support for mobile devices, including tablets and smart phones?
  • Do you have a fully documented escalations procedure in place should we be unhappy with the level of service provided?
  • Does your service desk provide 24-hour IT support as a service?
  • Can you provide new devices when we need to replace legacy devices?

Network monitoring and practice maintenance

  • Do you have a dedicated team that proactively monitors all elements of your network infrastructure?
  • Can we receive an immediate response in the event our server, internet, or network goes offline?
  • Will you conduct scheduled maintenance?
  • Will you schedule software and security updates?

Security

  • Do you help with cyber security training?
  • Will you use 2-FA on our accounts?
  • Will you regularly scan our network?
  • What will you put in place to ensure our business remains secure?
  • Can you help us to secure Cyber Essentials?
  • How will you back up our data?

Customer service

  • Are you a Microsoft Gold Partner?
  • Will you assign a dedicated account manager?
  • Do we have access to an online helpdesk, allowing us to log new and track existing tickets?
  • Have you got a standard SLA in place, or can we have a bespoke SLA?
  • Is there a way we can provide constant feedback to the service desk?

Strategy and consultancy

  • Will you conduct a free IT network infrastructure audit as part of the onboarding process?
  • Following the audit, will you provide a report that aligns with our goals?
  • Will we have quarterly business reviews?
